Towne Group Management Case Study: Maryland CASA Association

The Maryland CASA Association, the statewide organization for Maryland’s Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) , partners with 15 affiliated CASA programs to ensure that every victim of child abuse or neglect a new opportunity to grow up in a safe, permanent home. Maryland CASA fundraising operations are unique in that all its affiliates share in the process.

As part of Towne Group Management’s review of Maryland CASA’s operations (including fundraising), our team conducted a confidential board performance assessment and, as a result, created mechanisms for both board recruitment and orientation of incoming board members. As is frequently the case in our work, we developed and conducted a two-day retreat that addressed board organization, division of labor, and performance standards, with a special emphasis on refining programs for more efficient and productive fundraising. We followedup with a parallel retreat/meeting for affiliates to communicate our outcomes.
